Port Barton · San Vicente · Palawan, Philippines
The View – Jungle Lodges – Port Barton
A hillside of wooden lodges above the bay, about a 15 minute walk from the sand and a world away from the noise.
Six sub-scores above 9 out of 10, a perfect 10.0 for staff, one single 20 m² room category with a queen bed and a private terrace, and 1.3 km between your balcony and White Beach. There is no pool, no parking and no card machine, and the guests who love it love it precisely for that.
Port Barton – San Jose Road, Port Barton, 5309 San Vicente, Philippines
What this place actually is
A handful of wooden lodges on a jungle slope, run by the people who built them
The View is not a resort. It is a small cluster of stilted wooden lodges set into the hillside outside Port Barton, with parquet floors, louvred shutters, a mosquito net over the bed and a balcony that opens straight onto treetops and the bay. Guests keep naming the hosts by name in their reviews, which tells you more about the operation than any brochure line would. Booking.com’s guest score for staff sits at a flat 10.0 out of 10, and comfort at 9.7, cleanliness at 9.6 and value for money at 9.6 are not far behind. The lowest scores on the whole card are facilities and wifi, both 9.2, which is exactly the trade you are making here.
Practically, that means one room type and one room type only: a 20 m² Double Room with Terrace, queen bed, private bathroom, fan, and a view listed on Booking as sea, garden, mountain and landmark at once. Breakfast is not included in the room rate and is served in the room for about US$4 per person; several guests specifically call out the banana bread and the coffee. There is a coffee house and a snack bar on site, a sun deck and a garden, and free wifi across the whole property. There is no restaurant, no pool, no air conditioning listed, no parking at all, and the property takes cash only. If any one of those is a dealbreaker, this is the paragraph that saves you a bad booking.
Where it sits, and what the walk is really like
The address is Port Barton – San Jose Road, and the property is set above the coast rather than on it. Booking.com puts White Beach at 1.3 km and the property description calls it a 15 minute walk. Port Barton Beach and the town restaurants are further out, in the 4.2 to 4.9 km band. Guests are consistently positive about the location, scoring it 9.4, and just as consistently honest that the access road is rough. One reviewer’s entire summary was that the stay was excellent “maybe with exceptions of road to the facility”. Plan for a tricycle, a scooter or a paid transfer rather than a rolling suitcase.
House rules, and what is not included
This is an adults-only property in practice as well as on paper: children are not allowed, cribs and extra beds are not available, and the minimum check-in age is 18. Pets are not allowed. Parties and events are not allowed, and the fine print states the property does not host bachelor or bachelorette groups. Payment is by cash only. Check-in runs 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, a genuinely narrow window worth building your travel day around, and check-out is 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Not included in the rate: breakfast (about US$4), the shuttle service, public transit tickets, massage, canoeing and fishing. There is no parking available on the property at all, which matters if you were planning to rent a car in Puerto Princesa. Staff speak English, French and Filipino.

Rooms & accommodation
One room category, and it is the same one for everybody
Double Room with Terrace
Listed with sea, garden, mountain and landmark views. Hardwood or parquet floors, mosquito net, fan, wardrobe, clothes rack, socket near the bed, linens and towels supplied. Breakfast is an add-on at about US$4 per person and is served in the room.
From US$64 per night Observed on Booking.com for 10-13 Nov 2026: US$193 total for 3 nights after a 10% discount, plus US$23 taxes and fees. For 8-11 Feb 2027 the same room came to US$215 for 3 nights plus US$26. Free cancellation and no prepayment applied on both. Prices move with your dates, so treat these as a floor and not a quote.
Anything else? Not on the public listing
Booking.com returned a single bookable category on both date windows we tested, and the house rules confirm that cribs and extra beds are not available and that children are not allowed. Guests describe the property as a set of separate bungalows, so individual lodges will differ in outlook and privacy even though they share one listed category.

Getting here from the airports
San Vicente Airport (SWL), 31 km. This is the closest airport to Port Barton. There is no free airport shuttle: the property offers a shuttle service at an additional charge, and can also sell public transit tickets at an additional charge. Guests in the reviews repeatedly mention the hosts arranging pick-ups, vans onward to Puerto Princesa and island tours, so message the property before you fly rather than improvising on arrival. Booking.com does not publish a shuttle price — get a direct quote from the property before flying in.
Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPS). This is the airport most travellers actually land at for Palawan, and Port Barton is reached from it by shared van, private van or bus. Booking.com does not list PPS among this property’s closest airports, so exact road distance, journey time and current fares are not confirmed here — check directly with a Puerto Princesa transfer operator before booking transport.
The last stretch. The property is off the San Jose road above the coast and multiple guests describe the access road as rough. Tricycle, scooter or a booked transfer is the sensible approach. There is no parking on the property, so a rental car is a poor fit for this stay.
The area
Port Barton is the bit of Palawan that has not been paved yet
Most people fly into Palawan and go straight up the highway to El Nido. Port Barton sits in the municipality of San Vicente, on the same coast further south, and staying above it rather than in it is a specific choice with specific consequences.
White Beach, 1.3 km
This is the beach the property is oriented to and the one its own description calls a 15 minute walk. Booking.com also flags a “top-rated beach nearby” score of 9.2 for the property. It is the closest sand to your balcony by a wide margin, and it is the reason guests describe walking down in the morning and back up at the end of the day rather than moving base.
Port Barton town, about 4.2 to 4.9 km
Port Barton Beach sits 4.2 km out, with the town’s eating options clustered just beyond it: Jambalaya Cajun Cafe at 4.7 km, Gacayan Restaurant and Mabuti. Eat and Chill both at 4.9 km. Because there is no restaurant on the property, only a coffee house and a snack bar, dinner means going down into town or planning ahead. That 4.9 km each way in the dark on a rough road is the single most underrated logistics detail of this stay.
Pamuayan, 6 km
Pamuayan Beach is the furthest of the three beaches Booking.com lists for this property, at 6 km. It is the usual day-trip end of the local walking route north out of Port Barton, and the property does list walking tours and off-site hiking among its activities. Current access, any local fee and the condition of the trail in wet season are not published — worth checking locally before planning the hike.More Palawan stays we have written up: Las Cabanas Beach Resort in El Nido and Maligaya Beach Bungalows, also El Nido.
What guests say
Six reviews, including the ones that are not a rave
Debated for a long time between staying in Port Barton town and staying out here at The View, and says they made the right choice: quiet, beautiful, and a place they were pleased to come back to at the end of every day.
John🇬🇧 United Kingdom · via Booking.com
Calls the sea and bay view incredible and the place close to paradise, praises the coffee and a breakfast in the 250 to 350 PHP range, and notes the hosts organised everything: pick-up, island tour and the van onward to Puerto Princesa.
Fisher🇦🇷 Argentina · via Booking.com
Sums the stay up in three things: the view, the location, and the calm that helps you relax.
Elodie🇫🇷 France · via Booking.com
Thanks the hosts for being attentive and helpful with transport, and points out that you can watch the sunset from the balcony and that the jungle setting is a wonderful place to stay.
Ozan🇹🇷 Turkey · via Booking.com
Calls the stay spectacular and beyond expectations. Describes the bungalows as clean and comfortable with a view over the jungle out to the ocean, and recommends the banana bread at breakfast.
Randall🇨🇦 Canada · via Booking.com
Stayed six nights and loved it. Names the hosts and the house dog, and says they felt welcome from the first moment.

Good to know before you book
Four things that will decide whether this place is right for you
Cash only, and there is no card machine
Booking.com lists cash as the only accepted payment method at the property, with no card, foreign currency or bank transfer option shown (checked 19 August 2026). The rates we saw needed no prepayment, which means the full balance is settled on site in cash. Draw pesos in Puerto Princesa or San Vicente rather than assuming Port Barton will solve it for you.
Adults only, minimum check-in age 18
Children are not allowed, cribs and extra beds are not available, and the minimum age for check-in is 18. Parties and events are not permitted and the fine print rules out bachelor and bachelorette groups. If you are travelling with anyone under 18, this booking will not work. Our full explainer on age rules is here: how old do you have to be to check into a hotel.
The road up, and no parking at the top
Guests are positive about the location and blunt about the access road. There is also no parking available on the property at all, which rules out arriving in a rental car. Budget for a tricycle, a scooter or the property’s paid shuttle, and pack so that you can carry your bag on the last stretch.
Fan, jungle and no restaurant on site
Air conditioning is not on the facilities list; a fan and a mosquito net are. There is a coffee house and a snack bar but no restaurant, so dinner is a trip into town roughly 4.9 km away. Facilities and wifi are the two lowest sub-scores on the listing at 9.2 each, which is the honest ceiling of what this property is trying to be.
FAQ
Questions people actually ask about this property
Does The View – Jungle Lodges allow children?
No. The property’s house rules state that children are not allowed, and that cribs and extra beds are not available. The minimum age for check-in is 18, so this is an adults-only stay in practice.
How far is the property from White Beach and from Port Barton town?
Booking.com lists White Beach at 1.3 km, and the property’s own description calls it a 15 minute walk. Port Barton Beach is 4.2 km away, and the nearest listed restaurants sit between 4.7 and 4.9 km out.
Is breakfast included in the room rate?
No, it is an add-on. On the dates we checked, breakfast was offered at about US$4 per person and is served in the room. Vegetarian options are available and special diet meals can be requested. One guest reported paying 250 to 350 PHP.
Can I pay by card?
No. Cash is the only payment method listed for the property. The rates we saw required no prepayment, so the balance is settled on site in cash. Bring enough pesos with you.
Is there air conditioning, a pool or a restaurant?
None of the three appear on the property’s facilities list. Rooms are listed with a fan and a mosquito net. On site there is a coffee house and a snack bar, plus a sun deck and a garden, but no restaurant and no swimming pool. Massage is available at an additional charge.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in runs from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and check-out from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The check-in window is narrow, so plan your arrival transport around it.
Is there parking, and can I get here by car?
Booking.com states that no parking is available at the property. Guests also describe the access road as rough. A tricycle, a scooter or the property’s paid shuttle service is the realistic way in, and a rental car is a poor fit for this stay.
Which airport should I fly into?
San Vicente Airport is the closest, listed at 31 km from the property. Most travellers to Palawan arrive at Puerto Princesa International Airport instead and continue by road; we have not yet confirmed the exact distance and journey time from Puerto Princesa against a primary source, so we are not quoting one. The property offers a shuttle service and public transit tickets, both at an additional charge.
How good are the reviews, really?
The property scores 9.6 out of 10 from 174 reviews on Booking.com. Staff is a perfect 10.0, comfort 9.7, cleanliness 9.6, value for money 9.6, location 9.4, and both facilities and free wifi 9.2. The two 9.2 scores are the honest ceiling: this is a simple property that is run extremely well.
Other stays we have written up
If Port Barton is not the right base
Straight answer first: we do not yet cover another Port Barton property, so none of these are a same-town alternative. The first two are elsewhere in Southeast Asia and the third is on Palawan, in El Nido.
Las Cabanas Beach Resort
El Nido, Palawan. A beach-front base in a far busier, far more developed town than Port Barton. Pick it if you want restaurants, tour operators and nightlife within walking distance rather than a quiet hillside. See our write-up for the current rate and rating.
Kattegat Beachfront Villa
El Nido, Palawan. A different kind of beachfront: private access on Bucana Beach, a full kitchen and BBQ, free parking and continental breakfast included. Rated 9.4 Exceptional against this property’s 9.6, but you will pay for an airport shuttle from El Nido Airport, 17 km away.
Gili Beachfront Suites
Gili Trawangan, Indonesia. Built in 2023 on the quieter northeast shore, away from the party strip, with a turtle-snorkelling reef directly offshore, an outdoor pool and an on-site spa. Rated 8.3 Very Good on Booking.com against this property’s 9.6, from roughly $69–140 a night.
Book it for the staff score, the balcony and the quiet
A flat 10.0 out of 10 for staff across 174 reviews, a private 20 m² lodge with its own terrace looking over jungle to the bay, and a 1.3 km walk down to White Beach instead of a beachfront strip. Bring cash, leave the car and the kids at home.
Check Availability for Your Dates Free cancellation and no prepayment applied on both date windows we checked.
